Re-opening the channels of communication between retailers & suppliers
We are delighted to confirm that our first online Furniture show successfully took place last month (March 2021), opening both to AIS Members and general trade buyers and featuring the latest ranges from 70 key suppliers across the furniture sector, including upholstery, cabinetry, beds, lighting, accessories and garden.
Whilst we’ve been unable to run the usual in-person shows, this one-stop buying event was an important achievement for the AIS Furniture team, supporting the industry by re-opening the channels of communication between retailers and suppliers after what has been a very challenging year.
Julian Cox, Director of Furniture & Home at AIS reflects on the event:
“For us, the most crucial part of the event was to include content across a wide range of suppliers, offering options across a breadth of product categories. Our event was supported by key brands in the sector, helping to generate interest and purpose for buyers from members and non-members to visit the site. Our site traffic was very positive, showing that retailers had made a conscious effort to visit and suppliers were greatly encouraged with buyer responses which continue to deliver new account opportunities, enquiries and orders”
Whilst the Furniture team looks forward to resuming physical trade shows at Cranmore Park later this year, this online event has proven an extremely valuable tool in showcasing newness, highlighting new initiatives and reinforcing bestsellers. Julian continues:
“Our industry thrives on face-to-face contact and the ability to interact with product. When it comes to furniture, it is so important to be able to touch and feel the product. The ‘sit’ of a sofa, the feel of a mattress, being able to see and touch the finish on cabinet, enabling you to appreciate the product quality, and buy more effectively. We recognise the opportunity to run an online element to support physical shows and will be looking to support this initiative in the future”
