The 9th edition of the INDX Kidswear show saw record breaking attendance and the biggest brand offering to date.

After a run of successful trade shows, INDX continued the trend with their February Kidswear buying event. Varsha Chohan, show organiser explained: “This show saw every previous INDX Kidswear record broken. Prior to the show it was shaping up to be the biggest event to date, with more exhibitors, a larger brand offering and the addition of a third showroom. As the first day approached buyer registrations were rising rapidly, surpassing the figures for February 2018, which was a record-breaking show in itself.  The event started with pre-registration figures of +20%, an increase of 35% of brands on show and a larger space to accommodate the increase in footfall and brands.

Sunday was busy from the moment the doors opened. The day continued as it started and by close, many exhibitors were commenting on how, not only was this the busiest INDX Kidswear they had attended, but they had written more orders than at any previous INDX Kidswear event.

Long-term exhibitor Lilly and Sid were very happy with their brand performance, Imran Hassan commented: “I have been attending INDX for over 9 years and it has gone from strength to strength. Both numbers of new enquiries and new stockists are up. I am really pleased for the organisers as they have put their passion into making sure INDX becomes the number 1 kids trade show in the UK.”

Katie Lockwood from Little Lord & Lady also commented: “We are always so impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm at INDX. Every season they improve footfall and stick to their aims, by making sure that attendees are all serious buyers. It is the best show we attend, anywhere in the world. “

Mike Dean from Dandelion has been with INDX for all of its 15 year history and said: “The INDX Kidswear show is a must for all retailers to attend, it has to be the best show of its kind, in terms of the quality buyers and the best environment for us as suppliers to showcase our collections, and trust me, I have done many trade shows!!”

Hannah Evans from Piccalilly summed up the general feeling by saying: “Yet another amazing show. INDX keeps on going from strength to strength every year. We’ve had a phenomenal AW19 show - meeting with both existing customers and new prospects too. Keep up the good work INDX!”

The growing trend in the UK for mainland European styling has seen a steep increase in applications from many non UK brands and they too were very well received. David Parker UK agent for Portuguese brand Chua said: After visiting the show for a number of years the improvements that have been made, this year especially, have now set it apart from any others and it is now certainly being seen as a go-to exhibition.”

Maria from Balloon Chic, a sophisticated and stylish brand from Greece said: “INDX seems to rival some of the best exhibitions in Europe. We were very positively surprised and will absolutely be back. Keep an eye out for us.”

The opening of a third showroom and reconfiguration of the Platinum Showroom provided exhibition space for over 40 new brands. Bryony Cooney, the agent for Brazilian brand Milon said: “Having never been at the show before, it is great to hear both exhibitors and buyers saying that the show is bigger and better than previous years. Milon has been really well received. Count us in for next season.”

Rachel Riley from the award winning brand to which she gives her name said: “We’ve loved being at INDX this season, it’s well located for lots of our customers, and we have met with existing and new stockists. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming!”

Visiting Buyers continue to be pleasantly surprised with the venue and services and the larger brand offering gave many the opportunity to complete more of their buying under one roof. Returning buyers commented on the increased showroom space and the brand offering.  Having usually managed to complete their orders in a single day, they will need to register for a 2 day visit in June.

First time visitors Fi's Boutique said: “This is our first time visiting you. Amazing! Everyone is so helpful and the show is very well laid out. Lovely food. Brochure is ideal and shows you where everything is. You kept us updated in the weeks leading up to it too.”

Evelyn Cassie from George Donald, who regularly makes the trip from Scotland said: “The layout of the show room was so much improved and easier to go round with the removal of the coffee bar and seating area.”

Varsha Chohan continued: “Several indicators are used to measure the success of the event, two of these being buyer attendance and brand return rates. We are delighted that our buyer attendance has increased by + 34% compared to last year and 85% of the brands from February 19 have applied to return in June 19. As the leading Kidswear Trade show in the UK, the enquiry and waiting list is growing with each season, and with the extra show room space we now have the opportunity to invite new brands to join INDX for the first time.
