February 2023 | Retailers bring positive vibe and confidence to buy

INDX Man 5-7 February 2023 Show Review: Busy and Upbeat

As the menswear industry's premier order-writing trade show, the recent edition of INDX Man did not disappoint, and the 3 day show welcomed an upbeat crowd of retailers when it returned to Cranmore Park on 5 - 7 February 2023.

Exhibitors have been quick to coin the show a success and in an interview with Drapers Online,Tom Codd, UK and Ireland Sales Manager at Perry Ellis, representing Penguin Original commented:

"INDX Man has always been a good show for us and the best show for menswear. There was a nice busy feeling on Sunday, and you had to shout to speak to people at times.

"We always take on new customers at INDX and this year was no exception, but we've also seen existing customers. Rather than going to Manchester or London, which might be affected by train strikes, they'd rather drive here and see all the brands in one journey.

"The brand mix is also increasing so we’ve got more up and coming brands which have added some excitement and newness to the show.”

Matthew Rawlings, from long standing INDX Man exhibitor Douglas and Grahame, reported on their most successful show to date:

"We haven’t got all the figures in yet but in terms of order-writing and new prospects, as well as more general ‘feeling’ for our brands, INDX Man February 23 looks set to be our most successful to date".

Organised by Associated Independent Stores (AIS), the UK’s leading buying group for Fashion, Home, and Leisure, James CrabtreeHead of Fashion at AIS remarked that the INDX Man show was continuing to gather momentum, with a growing visitor footfall:

We make sure each show has its own identity and retailers can come and find everything they need in one place, and this season we've added more casual and lifestyle brands to sit alongside the traditional tailoring brands.

"It's been really good to see the community building and people coming together and there is currently a waiting list for brands that want to exhibit, which is a nice place to be.

"We've also welcomed more retailers from Ireland, aswell as major retailers Next, Frasers and Sainsbury's attending for the first time".

Brendan Tavey, owner of menswear independent Tavey Brothers, Castleblayney, Ireland was one such visitor:

"We attended INDX Man for the first time and had a positive experience. Its been great seeing all of the different brands. We are looking for something different to appeal to younger customers so more vibrant colours and more casual styles. We haven't taken on any new accounts yet but have made some really good contacts.”
